Officials cite a wet spring and World Cup effect

Picardie. Stability dominates, except in the sum where the proportion of foreigners, mostly from the British, has increased with the commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the battle of the Somme. Weather and heat helping hoteliers, notably in Bay of Somme and Picardy coast, note a sharp increase in bookings last minute in July. They observe a slight increase in bookings in August.

Normandy. Many reservations with a strong increase on the part of those Internet characterized this month of July. Tourism related to the landing beaches remains strong.

Brittany. The season started very well and 64 of hoteliers and restaurateurs respondents are "satisfied of the results obtained in June", even if they highlight "purchasing power declining." However, the attendance of foreign, British tourists in particular, is inadequate.

Poitou-Charentes. A very good first half of July in La Rochelle, from festivals, followed by a quieter period characterized the start of the season, but August announces full from 1 to 19, with a lot of last minute bookings. The season started well on the island of Ré, but was much longer to start at the Futuroscope.

Basque coast. "Has been good in July and August confirms, the season should be excellent," says professional. Since 15 July, the attendance is in progress of 20 on the Basque and Landes. On the other hand, 74 of the professionals interviewed by the Regional Committee of tourism declared very satisfied with bookings for August.

Côte d'Azur. After a good month of June with a 75 hotel occupancy rates, July follows the same trend. For professionals, the season looks good and better than that of the previous year for the coast. In contrast, the attendance is considered very average in the high country. On the coast, it is taken by foreign customers, especially of the Norse, the British and the Americans, while the Germans, Italians and Dutch would be fewer.

Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Professionals observe a settlement of reservations, a decline in attendance and suffer problems of labor for seasonal jobs.

Franche-Comté. The beginning of the season qualified way, stable even in slight decline in the Haut-Doubs where more short stays there and small budgets, occupation of the furnished is 35 against 43 a year earlier. Same comments to Besançon where the season seems better part. In the Jura, the season started late, but there are more young tourists this year.

Limousin. The activity is considered good by a professional on two. The start of the season was difficult in the rental, but there is a significantly larger attendance of motorhomes. The number of French remains stable, but foreigners are more numerous.

Paris. The season was pretty good until July 12, but since then, attendance would be lower than last year.
